Everywhere we turn, we are bombarded with messages that say our worth is found in what we own or how much money we make.
Yet God has a completely different message.
In 1 Timothy 6, the Apostle Paul teaches us that true riches are not found in our bank accounts, possessions, or social status. True riches are found in knowing Christ, living a godly life, and learning the secret of contentment.
This chapter is incredibly relevant today because many people struggle with:

📖 1 Timothy 6:1-2 – Honoring God Through Our Work
"All who are under the yoke of slavery should consider their masters worthy of full respect."
Paul was addressing servants and masters in the culture of his day, but there is an important principle for us:
How we work matters to God.
Whether we are:

God calls us to work with integrity.

"But godliness with contentment is great gain."
This may be one of the most powerful verses in the entire Bible about money.
The world says:
💵 More money = happiness.
God says:
🙏 Godliness + contentment = true wealth.
Contentment means being at peace with what God has provided.
It doesn't mean we never work hard or have goals.
It means our joy isn't dependent on having more things.
📖 1 Timothy 6:7
"For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it."
No one enters this world carrying:
💰 Money
🏡 Houses
💍 Jewelry
🚗 Cars
And none of those things leave with us either.
At the end of our lives, what will matter?

Social media often makes us believe everyone else has:

💰 More money

But social media usually shows only the highlights.

"Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have."

"Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap."
Notice Paul doesn't say money itself is evil.
The danger comes when getting rich becomes our obsession.
People can become trapped by:

⚠️ Dishonesty
💔 Broken relationships
Many people sacrifice their peace, marriages, health, and relationship with God in pursuit of money.
📖 1 Timothy 6:10 – One of the Most Misquoted Verses
"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil."
The verse does NOT say:
❌ Money is evil.
It says:
⚠️ The love of money is dangerous.
Money itself can be used for wonderful things:
❤️ Helping others
🙏 Supporting ministries
🍲 Feeding the hungry
🏠 Providing for family
The issue is what controls our hearts.
Jesus said:
Matthew 6:24
"You cannot serve both God and money."
Either money serves God…
Or money becomes our god.
📖 1 Timothy 6:11
"But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness."
Paul says to run from greed and run toward God.
