📖 Trusting God With Your Finances

🌿 Introduction: Who Owns Everything?
Many people think finances are only about money, budgets, and possessions. But the Bible teaches that finances are really about the condition of our heart.

Money can become:
- A source of fear
- A source of pride
- A replacement for trusting God
- Something we depend on more than Him
God wants us to see our finances as something we manage for His glory.
📖 Psalm 24:1 (KJV)
"The earth is the LORD's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein."
Everything we have ultimately belongs to God.
🌿 Step 1: Trust God Before Trusting Your Own Understanding
📖 Proverbs 3:5–6 (KJV)
"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
What does this mean financially?
When it comes to money, we often rely on:
- Our own plans
- Our own calculations
- Our own fears
- What the world says we need
But God asks us to seek Him first.
Before making financial decisions, ask:

🙏 "Does this honor You?"
🙏 "Am I trusting You or trusting money?"

🌿 Step 2: Put God First With What You Have
📖 Proverbs 3:9–10 (KJV)
"Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase:
So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine."
God teaches the principle of putting Him first.
This is not about trying to buy God's blessing. It is about recognizing:
"Lord, everything I have comes from You."
Giving teaches our hearts:
- Gratitude instead of greed
- Trust instead of fear
- Dependence on God instead of possessions
🌿 Step 3: Avoid Loving Money More Than God

"For the love of money is the root of all evil..."
Notice the Bible does not say money itself is evil.
The problem is the love of money.
Money is a tool:
- It can provide for your family
- It can bless others
- It can support God's work
But when money becomes our security, it takes God's place.
Ask yourself:
❤️ Do I trust God more than my bank account?
❤️ Does money bring me peace or fear?
❤️ Am I thankful for what God has provided?

📖 Philippians 4:11–13 (KJV)
"Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content."
Paul learned something powerful:
Contentment is not based on how much we have.
Contentment comes from knowing:
- God is faithful
- God provides
- God is with us
A person can have little and have peace.
A person can have much and still live in fear.
True wealth begins with a heart that trusts God.
🌿 Step 5: Ask God for Wisdom With Money
📖 James 1:5 (KJV)
"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God..."
God cares about your decisions.
Pray for wisdom about:
- Spending
- Saving
- Giving
- Investments
- Work
- Business decisions
- Opportunities
God does not want His children to walk blindly.

📖 Luke 16:10 (KJV)
"He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much..."
God looks at how we handle what we already have.
Being a good steward means:
✅ Being responsible
✅ Avoiding unnecessary debt
✅ Planning wisely
✅ Being generous
✅ Being thankful
Small acts of faithfulness prepare us for greater responsibility.
🌿 Step 7: Do Not Let Financial Fear Control You
📖 Matthew 6:31–33 (KJV)
"Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?"
Jesus reminds us that our Heavenly Father knows what we need.

Instead of asking:
"How will I survive?"
Ask:
"Lord, how will You lead me through this?"
🙏 Prayer for Financial Wisdom and Provision
Heavenly Father,
I come before You and recognize that everything I have comes from Your hand. Teach me to be a wise and faithful steward of the blessings You have given me.
Help me trust You with my finances instead of living in fear. Give me wisdom in my decisions, discipline in my spending, generosity in my giving, and contentment in every season.
Remove greed, anxiety, and worry from my heart. Help me remember that my security is not found in money, but in You.
Guide my work, my choices, and my future. Let my finances honor You and be used for Your purposes.
